My guess is that they hand-picked the day to match the weather conditions – it was so lovely outside that everyone just flocked outside to the grass for a while, it was quite a nice break in an otherwise dull afternoon!… š

I really can’t wake up late…
… today I woke up at 10:30 and spent the rest of the day with a massive headache. It happens every the time I oversleep! :/
(but yeah, after waking up yesterday at 6 AM for my morning practice, followed by a birthday party in the evening, I really needed the rest, even though it shouldn’t have been this much! š )

The best way to start a very long day!
Having a nice cup of coffee and some awesome chocolate chip muffins (I am positively addicted to them!), while looking at my snowy surroundings. And so another week begins!… š
And so it begins!…
Spent all afternoon printing a fresh batch of lab reports to mark :P. And now, let the fun begin!… (apparently tomorrow the weather will not be as inviting as today, so I really have no excuses for not starting… š )
Anyway, I shouldn’t complain that much, this morning I had a brilliant outing on a single scull – no wind, no rain, had the river all for myself (and its banks, as I kept hitting them š ). It was quite chilly, though… (couldn’t feel my hands for more than a quarter of the outing) Ah, I’m eagerly waiting for the warmer months…
This was a nice surprise…
… but please, guys, next time get my university’s name right! Kent State Uni is in the United States, not in Canterbury, UK! š

My name is Manuel Marques, and Iām a lecturer in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kent (United Kingdom). I am also a researcher in the Applied Optics Group at the same institution. My work lies mostly in the area of Applied Optics, namely white light interferometry and its two/three-dimensional variant, optical coherence tomography.
Outside work I'm a keen runner/sculler/rower/cyclist, and I do enjoy being in the outdoors (photographing them is a bonus, too!). Other hobbies include tinkering with things, both big and small (not always with a positive outcome, I must say), travelling, reading, in no specific order.
