Apple ][ language card!

So, I am another step closer to get my hands in an Apple ][! I got an Apple monochrome monitor recently, now this (there’s also another card, an 4-bit (?) ADC with a BNC connector dangling off it – more history!), ha, keep waiting! 😀
Office refurb… and a new, big boy’s desk! :)
On Friday we had a massive cleanup and reorganisation of our office – and I got myself a bigger desk and improved chair space! (and I also redecorated the place a bit, eheh)
Oh, the elements…
Going out for a run and getting alternating sunshine (& sort of clear skies) and heavy rain – did I went to run a half-marathon? Nope, just 30-40 minutes outside and it was enough. Welcome to England :).

The diagnostic tool I bought for my car a month ago arrived! 🙂 I shouldn’t complain much, it came from China, with free shipping!
Now I’ll finally be able to tell what is causing my car’s engine management light to randomly lit up from time to time. Strangely, in the last few days it has been very quiet!…
Edit: I ran a few tests yesterday, apparently the only error code stored on the ECU is related to an intermittent high voltage on the coolant temperature sensor – I suspect there is a loose connection somewhere, as most of the times the ECU warning lights up when I’m cornering. I monitored the sensor through the interface, and it seemed to be reporting the temperature properly! (anyway, the sensor is only £10 from Vauxhall and very easy to replace, if it comes to that I’ll take care of it myself…)
So cool to be able to monitor 50+ parameters of my car’s engine just through a data connection! It really brings up the geek in me! 😀

My name is Manuel Marques, and I’m a lecturer in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kent (United Kingdom). I am also a researcher in the Applied Optics Group at the same institution. My work lies mostly in the area of Applied Optics, namely white light interferometry and its two/three-dimensional variant, optical coherence tomography.
Outside work I'm a keen runner/sculler/rower/cyclist, and I do enjoy being in the outdoors (photographing them is a bonus, too!). Other hobbies include tinkering with things, both big and small (not always with a positive outcome, I must say), travelling, reading, in no specific order.
