Naughty Thorlabs!

The other day I was just happily surfing through Thorlabs’ website (shopping! Yay!), when something very tiny caught my eye:

Wait a minute… that light bulb over there seems quite familiar! I know I’ve seen it somewhere before, but where? šŸ™‚

Haha! There you go, I knew I had seen it somewhere! šŸ˜€ Thorlabs, Thorlabs… – it is true Apple will probably not chase you because of a product logo which was discontinued more than 10 years ago, but still, you could draw your own light bulb, it is not that difficult!

(although I’m not sure about the “not chasing you out” bit. Apple has a long story of being pushed around (remember “Sosumi”, the Mac OS sound?) and is also famous for pushing around as well!…)

Apple ][ language card!

So, I am another step closer to get my hands in an Apple ][! I got an Apple monochrome monitor recently, now this (there’s also another card, an 4-bit (?) ADC with a BNC connector dangling off it – more history!), ha, keep waiting! šŸ˜€

Finally!

The diagnostic tool I bought for my car a month ago arrived! šŸ™‚ I shouldn’t complain much, it came from China, with free shipping!

Now I’ll finally be able to tell what is causing my car’s engine management light to randomly lit up from time to time. Strangely, in the last few days it has been very quiet!…

Edit: I ran a few tests yesterday, apparently the only error code stored on the ECU is related to an intermittent high voltage on the coolant temperature sensor – I suspect there is a loose connection somewhere, as most of the times the ECU warning lights up when I’m cornering. I monitored the sensor through the interface, and it seemed to be reporting the temperature properly! (anyway, the sensor is only Ā£10 from Vauxhall and very easy to replace, if it comes to that I’ll take care of it myself…)

So cool to be able to monitor 50+ parameters of my car’s engine just through a data connection! It really brings up the geek in me! šŸ˜€

Now thank you, Yahoo!…

I didn’t like the fact that they doubled the fee for the Pro accounts, though! šŸ™

Aaand it’s back!

After a few days locked out, apparently that pointless attack on WordPress hosts is finished, and I can access my blog again (finally!). Too bad I now have too many things to worry about, so I can’t be bothered to write anything longer than 4 lines! šŸ™‚

Argh, stupid hackers with too much free time in their hands…

Since a few days ago I’ve been unable to access the admin section of my blog – apparently there has been a coordinated DDoS attack to most self hosted wordpress installations, and my provider blocked the access to the wp-login script, hence I’m locked out!

I could only post this through the WordPress app for Android, which apparently can go around the wp-login script.
Hopefully this will be sorted in the next few days!
Some people definitely have too much free time on their hands…

You want a more reliable machine?

My office computer, and elderly 2001 Pentium 4 PC running Fedora 17 with Xfce. 30 days without a reboot (only hibernating it at night), used daily! (unfortunately I’ve installed a new kernel and that will require a system reboot, so my uptime will be lost! šŸ˜› )
